A friend of mine is having an awful time with her daughter’s school system. Sadie, over at Slap Dash Mom, has a beautiful and very intellegent young daughter. She is in the the 5th grade, and is being bullied on a DAILY basis. This poor girl did nothing wrong, but the teachers and school officials are looking hte other way.
After not being able to take the horrible name calling and physical abuse any longer, young Jenelle fought back. As she was being physically attacked (yet again!) she decided to kick her attacker. Her foot landed in his groin, effectively stopping the assault….this time. What happened to the attacker? Nothing! What about Jenelle? She was sent home with a paper, writing her up for “Sexual Misconduct”.
It seems as if it isn’t only other students who are bullying this young girl, but teachers and administration alike. Why does this girl get such a harsh punishment for fighting back….FINALLY! Yet her attackers don’t even get a slap on the wrist?
My writing promt from The Blog Dare today was “I don’t think you understand…” and I am going to direct that to the school administration.
I don’t think you understand that what YOU are allowing to be done, can and will cause lifelong trauma to this child. I urge you to take a look at what is going on. To finally do something about the torture of this little girl, that is happening within the walls that you are supposed to be watching, and protecting. Bullying of this degree is what causes children as young as Jenelle is, to commit suicide. Teen suicide is preventable, but only if you step in and make it right. The children that are tormenting her need to be punished, and their parents need a conference. Children learn these things from the adults in their lives, so that should be looked at as well.
To anyone, and everyone who is enraged by this, please, I beg of you, help! Bombard the school Facebook page with questions like “Why don’t you stop the bullying going on at Mason Elementary?” or other questions that you come up with.
Sadie also has other information, phone numbers, email addresses, and links to places that you can contact. The more people that reach out, the less the administration at this school can ignore it.
UPDATE: The school board has removed their facebook page. Apparently there was a large amount of outrage, and they decided it was best to pull their facebook page instead of address the issues. Next up is Twitter, please RT this!
This must stop NOW! Do something to make it right for this girl! freetailtherapy.com/2012/12/i-dont… #stopbullying @slps_info

UPDATE AGAIN: They put up a NEW facebook page….cause I guess we’d never know that they did that, huh? Please go let them know how you feel! I am very happy to say that there has been some very positive (and LARGE) community pages who have posted about this situation, and I want to thank them! Wipe Out Homophobia posted HERE and HERE. STOP Teenage Suicide posted HERE and HERE. Bisexuality Is Real posted HERE and HERE. Apparently people have been calling the school, and instead of the school saying they are acting on the issue, they are just haging up on people. They also tweeted this.
DID YOU KNOW?A total of 11,287 SLPS students signed the District’s Anti Bullying Pledge this school year.

Feel free to reply to it. Kids signing a paper does not make it a binding contract, especially whenthey think it is just another school assignment. ACTION is what will stop the bullying, and that is not happening right now.
Slap Dash Mom just updated her post. The main point that I want to make here is this.
After getting off the phone with her teacher, the Team Bully Response Squad called me. They reached out and offered their services to Jenelle at NO CHARGE and said they would love to help us. They’re going to talk to the school next week and hopefully help them come to some type of agreement as far as protecting Jenelle goes.
But you are more than welcome to see all the updates by going HERE.
Jenelle has just made a video, I urge you all to watch it, and please share it!
A fellow supporter created an online petition, feel free to sign it HERE.
